WORK EXPERIENCE PREPARATION

"What do employers expect from me?"

Useful for students about to embark on work experience or for those who cannot find placements.

Starting with a low-level management game, to enhance communication skills, we cover key elements of work that give participants a greater understanding of employer's expectations, business relations and how best to achieve success in future careers.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Participants will:

    • understand what are good communications skills, both verbal and non-verbal
    • understand the expectations of future employers and their own duties and responsibilities as an employee.
    • experience business style decision-making and have been exposed to constructive criticism and 'how the other half thinks'
    • undergo a mock interview session
    • experience presentation skills individually and in groups
    • experience thinking on their feet
    • learned appropriate telephone skills

AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
Participants will examine the various factors that influence performance and motivation, and analyse the workplace itself.  This day will help participants identify key issues, practice rapport and empathy; ensure good questioning, arguments and forward thinking through constructive criticism.

Head of Careers:

“I would like to book IK again for work experience preparation for our Year 11 pupils. It went very well indeed last time. The parents were very impressed and the whole WE programme accomplished what it was supposed to do, good pupil reviews and employers’ reports, that sort of thing”
