STUDY SKILLS, GOAL-SETTING AND MOTIVATION

"I am always leaving homework and revision until the last moment. How can I get motivated?"

What do students want from work/ life, what is their motivation? We show them the ‘Wheel of Success’ and how to put more effort and focus into achieving desired goals. Small group discussion and a time management exercise follows.

Discussions on memory and how it works, the rules of memory and the keys to an excellent memory, mnemonics and VAK (Visual Auditory Kinesthetic). Students learn about mental ‘filing systems’, advanced association, and develop a learning strategy.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Students will have:

    • become aware of what is memory and how to put memory strategies into action
    • discovered what happens mentally, physically during stress and ways to alleviate this
    • been introduced to time management
    • put into practice the Rules of Memory
    • set goals for themselves and understood how to reach them

AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
To assist students in overcoming the burden of revision and be equipped with tools in order to achieve successful studying. The goal-setting and motivation part of the day raises students’ aspirations for the future.

Head of Careers:
