Founded in 1998, Inside Knowledge is an independent company that specialises in offering both Career Taster workshops and a range of Skills days.  We are dedicated to raising the aspirations of students from all backgrounds.  Our approach is to establish the specific needs of the school or college, providing a tailor-made product if required.  We cater for 14-19 year olds, and because we have over 400 professional trainers throughout the country, therefore big days are no problem.

It has been recognised that an outsider coming in for a ‘special training day’ has a greater impact and focuses the students’ attention.  Therefore, our workshops, which are role-play based, are informative, interactive and highly engaging.  Our skills trainers believe that learning through doing is one of the most effective ways to teach young people essential skills.

Background on some of our trainers:

One of our City & Financial Markets Trainers is an ex Eurobond Trader, now working on a freelance basis with financial personnel from companies such as Deutsche Bank, Banque Bruxelles Lambert and Lyonnaise de Banque as a Management Training Consultant, concentrating on International business skills. He is also a Trainer of Trainers Certified NLP Master Practitioner.

Another City trainer joined Quilter Goodison, becoming a Member of the Stock Exchange, managing around a 100 discretionary private client portfolios. He has lectured on behalf of a number of City Institutions, including City University Business School (now Cass Business School), Proshare, The Stock Exchange, Investment Education plc and Euromoney on portfolio construction and raising capital in the equity markets. He has also lectured on behalf of the Securities and Investment Institute.

Some of our Law trainers are provided by one of the country's leading Law Colleges - The College of Law - who have centres in Chester, York, Guildford and London. One of our Solicitor Trainers specialises in Litigation, particularly in cases dealing with Human Rights and he has some excellent role-play scenarios.

We have a corporate communicator whose career included training with PricewaterhouseCoopers and was a lecturer in Economics and Accountancy.

Our own Business and Management trainers are either Business Performance Coaches or have held senior management positions or Directorships in International Blue Chip Companies.

All our Public Relations trainers work in high profile PR companies in London. Some have accounts with famous international fashion designers, to top quality stores or watchmakers.

Sports & Leisure Management trainers are running Leisure Centres - most are also involved with Athletics either professionally, or on an amateur basis. We also have trainers from the Fitness Industry including Sports Scientists who train students in our Sports Science workshops

Broadcast & Print Journalism trainers are well known to some as TV Presenters - either nationally or regionally. We also have Sky News Reporters training for us.

History of Art - where does it lead? Here we have two well known television personalities from the BBC's Antiques Roadshow - both specialists in their own fields.

The Film & TV Industry - we have many Film Directors or Producers, most make Films and Documentaries for TV or Cinema.

Graphic Design - One of our trainers has worked for the Crafts Council of Great Britain and has won many awards. She is now a visiting trainer at the Glasgow Arts School. Other trainers work for well known magazines in London and the South West.

Engineering - The Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (REME) have agreed to supply us with engineering trainers from time to time, they have a huge knowledge of the many different aspects of engineering for the military, including Aerospace, Transport, and Electrical engineering. We have several other independent Engineer trainers all working either in the Environmental sector of Engineering or for global Engineering companies

Medicine - many of our doctors are GP Principals. Others have worked overseas in such places as Zambia and Malaysia and most of them have trained medical students at Southampton Medical School or Southampton University. We have several doctors who train from St George's Medical School.

Publishing - With over 25 years of working in the related fields of publishing, design, marketing, print production, our trainers can inform students of every aspect of publishing. We also have a specialist trainer on Illustrated publishing as well.

Childcare for those at risk - One trainer is a social worker for the NSPCC . She has worked with a variety of people in different organizations for the last ten years, and has developed a sound knowledge of the issues that individuals have, who are frequently excluded from mainstream society . e.g. those who have faced homelessness, sexual abuse and domestic violence. A most interesting workshop.
